The Numbers Game -- Video - DVD - SACD (1989 to 2007)

The video sector of the market took a downturn in 2006 after hitting a peak the year before, but seems to be bouncing back, despite the fact that three of the four formats are terminally ill.

Note: Graphs below have not yet been updated with 2007 data.

The list price in this sector is significantly higher than the rest of the RIAA product line, even taking into consideration the schizophrenic nature of said prices, although it seems to level out in the last 4 years if you average them all together.

The market share is also at its highest point ever for this sector. The premise that the pricing for these items is higher than the bulk of the industry's goods in borne out by the value of this sector having a consistently higher percentage of the overall total than the units shipped.
